Easy Onion Tomato Chutney/ Thakkali Chutney

Quick Tomato Chutney

It is a very simple chutney can be served with Idly or dosa. Here is my way of preparation.

Ingredients

Onion 1 No (Chopped)
Tomato 2 Nos (Chopped)
Grated Coconut 2 Tablespoons
Green chillies 3 Nos
Mustard 1/4 Tablespoon
Asafoedita A Pinch
Curry leaves A Strig
Salt To Taste
Oil 1 Tablespoon

Preparation Method

  • Heat a pan and add a 1/2 tablespoon of oil.
  • Once the oil is hot, add green chillies and onion and saute them well for 2 minutes.
  • Then add tomatoes and let it cook for 3 minutes.
  • Turn off the flame and allow it to cool down.

  • Transfer the contents to the mixer jar and add grate coconut.
  • Grind the contents to a fine paste.
  • Transfer it to a bowl and add water to a required consistency.

  • Heat a pan and add oil. Once it becomes hot, add mustard.
  • After it splutters add the curry leaves, asafoedita and turn off the flame in 5 seconds.
  • pour them to the chutney kept in the bowl. Mix well and serve.
