Mochai Fry Recipe

Mochai has always been my favorite. This recipe was given by my periamma. She told me to try this out longback. So this recipe has been in my wait list for quite sometime now. Finally made it few days back. It’s a very good snack and I liked it very much. To enhance the flavour, some crushed garlic and fresh curry leaves can be fried and added to it. Instead of pepper powder, chilli powder can also be added if preferred.

Fried Mochai Recipe

Preparation Time : 30 Minutes
Cooking Time : 30 Minutes


Mochai 1 Cup
Pepper Powder 1 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Oil For Frying

Preparation Method

Soak mochai for 8 hours or overnight. Remove the outerskin.

Spread them on a cotton cloth and allow it absorb the moisture completely. It took around  4-6 hours for it to dry.
Mochai Fry Recipe Step 2
Heat oil in a kadai and once it is hot, slowly drop handful of mochai into the hot oil. Fry them till it gets cooked. The shhhhh sound should almost be down. Drain the oil and transfer it to the colander.

Add salt and pepper powder. Mix well. Allow it to cool down and transfer it to air tight container.
