Wheat Rava Sweet Pongal Recipe

We both felt that its been quite long since we had sweet pongal – one of our favorites. So thought of making it one evening. Long back I read somewhere about this wheat rava sweet pongal. I was little excited to try this version of sweet pongal with wheat rava. The preparation process is almost the same except that the rava has to be roasted here. The recipe was a super hit and it tasted just like the authentic sweet pongal. Its quite hard to differentiate that it is made of wheat and not rice.

Wheat Sweet Pongal Recipe

Wheat Rava Sweet Pongal
Preparation Time : 10 Minutes
Cooking Time : 20 Minutes
Serves : 2

Ingredients

Wheat Rava 1/2 Cup
Moong Dhal 1.5 Tablespoons
Powdered Jaggery 3/4 Cup
Cardamom Powder 1/8 Teaspoon
Cashew 10 Nos
Raisins 5 Nos
Ghee 1- 2 Tablespoons

Preparation Method
Dry roast the wheat rava till a nice aroma comes and it turns into light golden brown colour.

Dry roast the moong dhal and keep it ready.

Mix wheat rava and moong dhal together and transfer it to pressure cooker. wash them for couple of times. Add 1.5 Cups of water and pressure cook for 3- 4 whistels.

In the mean time, add 1/4 cup of water to the powdered jaggery. Anb boil them till it gets dissolved.

When the wheat rava is cooked, mash them and then strain the jaggery syrup and turn on the flame. Start mixing.

Cook till it reaches the required consistency. Add cardamom powder. Finally roast the cashew and raisins in ghee and add it to the pongal.
