Sweet Corn Fritters Recipe

I used to prepare this corn fritters once in a while. But somehow kept postponing it from posting it here. I made this corn pakora couple of days back when the daylight was bright enough. So made up my mind to click it. Its one of the easy snack recipe that you can prepare when you have some sudden guests or when you feel like having something hot and spicy in the evenings. I used tinned corn. However the whole sweet corn can also be used to prepare this recipe. In that case, the corn has to be boiled and the corn kernels have to be taken from the cob.

Preparation Time : 5 Minutes
Cooking Time : 20 Minutes
Serves : 3 Nos


Sweet Corn Kernels 3/4 Cup
Besan / Gram Flour 1/2 Cup
Onion 1 No
Green Chillies 1 No
Ginger A Small Piece (chopped)
Chilli Powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Turmeric Powder A Pinch
Garam Masala 1/4 Teaspoon
Pepper Powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Mint Leaves 2 Tablespoons (Chopped)
Salt To Taste
Oil For Frying

Preparation Method
Wash the corn kernels and boil them for 10 minutes. Drain the excess water and allow it to cool down.

To the boiled corn, add all the ingredients mentioned in the above table except oil. Mix everything well. If required, add water and bring it to a slightly thick consistency.

Heat oil in a pan and once it is hot, take some batter in a spoon and drop it in hot oil. Repeat the same in batches and fry the pakoras till it turns into golden brown colour. Drain the excess oil and transfer it to a plate and serve hot.
