Karasev Recipe

Karasev recipe is one of the snack I prepared for last diwali. It turned out well and I found it easy to prepare so thought of posting it here. I like the pepper flavor rather than just adding chilli powder. Adding freshly crushed pepper adds extra taste to the snack. It can be stored in airtight container for a week. At times, I used to have it as a side along with rice rather than just a snack.

Karasev Recipe Step 1
Sprinkle water little by little and knead to form a smooth dough.

Karasev Recipe Step 2
I used murukku achu for making karasev. Then take the dough and place inside murukku press. Meanwhile heat oil in a tawa sufficient enough for frying.
Karasev Recipe Step 3
When the oil is hot, press the dough to make a round. Let it fry for sometime and then turn it over to the other side. Fry till the shhhhh sound stops and then drain the oil and transfer it.
Karasev Recipe Step 4
Repeat the same in batches till for all the remaining dough and when it is cooled down, randomly break them into pieces and transfer it to air tight container and enjoy as a tea time snack.
Karasev Recipe Step 5

Make sure the dough is not too stiff or loose. Sprinkle water little by little and knead it to a soft dough.
Make sure the butter is softened before adding. Instead of butter same quantity of hot oil can also be added. Do not add butter / oil in excess than specified in this recipe.
