Spinach Masiyal Recipe

Here is another healthy and super easy spinach recipe. I used baby spinach in this recipe. I always make sure that we include spinach in our meal atleast once a week. This spinach masiyal can be mixed with hot steamed rice or else it can served as a side along with kara kuzhambu. I like to have it either way. In this same recipe, some cooked and mashed moongdhal can also be added.

Baby Spinach Masiyal Recipe

Preparation Time : 5 Minutes
Cooking Time : 10 Minutes
Serves : 3


Baby Spinach 250 Grams
Shallots 3 Nos (Chopped)
Cumin Seeds 1 Teaspoon
Red Chillies 2 Nos
Mustard 1 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Oil 1 Teaspoon

Preparation Method
Wash the spinach well and add it to a pan. To the spinach add chopped onion, cumin seeds and mix well.

Cook for 7 minutes, till it turns soft. Add required salt.Turn off the flame and allow it to cool down. While cooking do not close the pan with a lid. Spinach has to be cooked open.

You can mash it either using mathu or in a mixer in the pulse mode just for 2 seconds. As I did not have mathu, I mashed it in mixer.

In a pan add oil once it is hot, add mustard, cumin seeds and split red chillies and fry them and add it to the spinach and mix well.
