Mathi Meen Varuval Recipe

After a long time, we bought sardine fish couple of days back. I recently read an article which says that sardines had lots of health benefits. So when I found this fish last time, thought of buying it. So far, I haven’t made or tasted  fish curry with sardines. Whenever we buy, I ll fry them. So did the same sardine fry this time too. Unlike many other fishes, sardines have strong flavor, the smell of this fish will fill the entire house and will stay for few hours. This is the only thing which stops me from buying this fish quite often. But still, its good to have for its benefits and it tastes good as well.

Sardines Fry Recipe

Sardine Fish Fry Recipe
Preparation Time : 10 Minutes
Cooking Time : 15 Minutes


Sardine Fish 4  - 6 Nos (Medium Sized)
Ginger Garlic Paste 1 Tablespoon
Chilli Powder 1 Teaspoon
Coriander Powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Turmeric Powder A Pinch
Pepper Powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Oil 1 Tablespoon

Preparation Method

Remove the scales from the fishes and cut off the head. Clean it well inside. Add some rock salt, turmeric powder and rub on the fish and let it remain for couple of minutes. Then wash it well around 3- 4 times and drain the water and keep it aside.

To prepare the marination, mix turmeric powder, chilli powder, pepper powder, coriander powder, ginger garlic paste, salt. Mix everything well with little water (if required)

Make some slits in the fish and coat the masala well on both the sides and at the inside of the fish.Let it marinate for 1 hour. Heat a tawa and add oil. Once it is hot, place the marinated fish on the tawa and fry them well on both sides till it turns into golden colour. If preferred, add some curry leaves while frying the fish which gives a good flavor.
