Potato Masala Recipe

Potato Masala will always be the best combo for poori.Compared to the other side dish for poori, potato masala is relatively simple and tastes great with poori. Poori with potato masala will be the breakfast menu on weekends. The same masala can be spread on the dosa to make masala dosa. Adding ginger and green peas enhances the flavour of the dish.

Potato 5 Nos (Small Sized)
Onion 1 No
Green Chillies 1 No
Mustard 1 Teaspoon
Channa Dhal 1/2 Tablespoon
Turmeric Powder A Pinch
Curry Leaves A strig
Besan/ Gram Flour 1 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Oil 1 Teaspoon

Preparation Method

Wash and boil the potatoes, peel off the skin and mash them. In a pan add oil. Once it is hot, add mustard and after it splutters add the channa dhal and fry for few seconds.

  Add chopped onion and green chillies and saute till the onion becomes translucent.

  Add turmeric powder and mix well.

  Add mashed potatoes, required salt and mix well. Cook covered for 2 minutes.

  Add 1/4 cup of water and bring it to boil. Meanwhile mix the besan with little water and make sure there are no lumps.

  Add the besan mixture to it and cook till the masala reaches the required consistency.
