Oats Upma | Easy Breakfast Recipes

Its just the porridge that I have been preparing all these days with oats. So thought its now time to explore different recipes with oats. Here is my first different try – Oats Upma. Its more similar to the usual upma and can be prepared really fast. It will be very filling too as oats is rich in fibre. I served it with onion Tomato Chutney.

Ingredients
Oats 1 Cup
Channa Dhal 1 Tablespoon
Urad Dhal 1 Teaspoon
Curry Leaves 1 Strig
Greenchillies 2 Nos (Finely Chopped)
Ginger A small piece (Finely chopped)
Onion 1 No (Finely chopped)
Green Beans 5 Nos (Finely Chopped)
Carrot 1 No (Chopped)
Peanuts 10 Nos
Mustard 1/4 Tablespoon
Sesame Oil 1 Tablespoon
Salt To Taste
Water 1/2 Cup (Approximately)

Preparation Method
  • Heat a pan and add oil. Once it is hot, add mustard.
  • After it splutters, add channa dhal, urad dhal, Peanuts and fry them till they turn to golden brown colour.
  • Then add curry leaves.

  • Then add  green chillies, ginger and onion and saute them well.
  • Add Chopped carrot, beans and saute them well.
  • Add salt required for the vegetables.

  • Once the vegetables are cooked, add oats and mix well. Cook for a minute.
  • Then Sprinkle water little by little. Close the pan with a lid and cook for 2 minutes.

  • Again Sprinkle water and cook by closing it with a lid for 2 –3 minutes.
  • Transfer it to a bowl and serve hot with chutney.
