Oats Vadai Recipe is the first oats recipe I have tasted. I used to make porridge everyday for my hubby, but I never took an attempt to taste it. When it was raining last evening, we felt like having something hot and crispy. I quickly browsed for some easy recipes and came across this instant oats vada.So immediately gave it a try with some customizations. Unlike the usual vadas which demands for soaking the dhal and grinding, this vada can be prepared in just 15 minutes. This vada turns out to be very crispy and tasty.Here is the recipe for yummy vada.

Preparation Time : 10 Minutes
Cooking Time      : 10 Minutes
Yields            : 10 Nos

Ingredients

Oats 1 Cup
Onion 1 No (Chopped)
Green Chillies 2 Nos (Chopped)
Cumin Seeds 1 Teaspoon
Asafoetida A Pinch
Ginger 1 Teaspoon (Grated/Finely chopped)
Curry Leaves A Strig
Coriander Leaves/ Cilantro A Fistful
Salt To Taste
Oil For Frying

Preparation Method

Measure 1 cup of oats and add water just sufficient enough to wet the oats. Do not add too much water as the batter becomes too thin for vada. Leave it for ten to 15 minutes.

Add chopped onion. green chillies, curry leaves, cilantro, ginger, cumin seeds, asafoetida, salt and mix well.

Make small balls and gently flatten them.

Meanwhile heat a tawa/ wok with oil enough for frying. Gently drop the flattened batter into the oil one by one.

Keep the flame in medium and fry the vadas until it turns to nice golden brown colour on all the sides. Drain the oil and transfer to a plate and serve hot.

Notes

Add water just enough to wet the oats. If the mixture is too watery, it will absorb more oil while frying.

Keep the flame in medium so that it gets cooked well inside.
