Chettinad Chicken Kurma Recipe | Chicken Recipes

Chettinad Chicken kurma is my all time favorite. This will be a mandatory dish that I make whenever we have guests. It tastes good with rice, roti, chappati and even dosa.

Chicken 500 Grams
Onion 1 No
Tomato 1 No
Ginger Garlic Paste 1 Tablespoon
Turmeric Powder A Pinch
Chilli Powder 2 Teaspoons
Coriander Powder 3 Teaspoons
Cinnamon 1 Stick
Cardamom 2 Nos
Cloves 4 Nos
Bay Leaves 1 No
Black Stone Flower 2 Nos
Grated Coconut 2 Tablespoon
Cashew 10 Nos
Cumin Seeds 1 Teaspoon
Fennel Seeds 1 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Oil 1 Tablespoon

Preparation Method
  • Heat a pan and add oil. Once it is hot, add bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamom,black stone flower, cloves.
  • Add onion and saute them well.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes off.

  • Add tomato and cook till it becomes mushy.
  • Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and mix well.
  • Add the washed chicken pieces and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add water to the required consistency and bring it to boil.

  • Meanwhile grind cumin seeds, fennel seeds, cashew, grated coconut to a fine paste and keep it ready.

  • When the chicken is half cooked, add the ground paste to the boiling mixture.
  • Mix it well and cook till the chicken gets cooked well.
