Potato Fritters Recipe | Urulai Kizhangu Pakoda | Snack Recipes

I was thinking of what to prepare for evening snack. Finally left with no choice other than Pakoda as I was running short of Ingredients for all the other snack recipes. Instead of making pakoda with onion, I tried with grated potatoes. It was very crispy like the usual pakoda and the taste was awesome with rich potato flavour. Had a great satisfaction!!

Potato 2 Medium Sized
Besan flour 1 Cup
Rice Flour 2 Tablespoons
Onion 1/4 Cup (Chopped)
Green Chillies 1 No (Chopped)
Coriander Leaves/ Cilantro A Fistful
Asafoetida A Pinch
Chilli Powder 1/4 Tablespoon
Salt To Taste
Oil For Frying

Preparation Method
  • Wash the potato, peel off the skin and grate them using a grater.
  • Mix Besan flour by grated potato, rice flour, chilli powder, asafoetida, salt.
  • Add chopped onion, green chilly, coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Add very little water (only if required) and mix it to a very thick consistency. Potato will have some moisture so water is generally not required.

  • In a pan heat enough oil for frying.
  • Once it is hot, add the mixture in small parts. It need not be in a specified shape.
  • Fry them well, till they change into golden brown colour.
  • Transfer them to a plate by draining the oil completely.
