Methi Leaves Stir Fry Recipe | Vendhaya keerai Poriyal

Since I heard from my mom that Methi Leaves are good for health, I never fail to buy a bunch of it during my weekly grocery shopping. Started trying different recipes using Methi leaves one after the other. To start with, I made this simple stir fry. I had a slight doubt that it may taste bitter. But that wasn’t the case and we both liked it very much, and this dish was completely wiped out during that day’s lunch.

Methi Leaves 1 Bunch
Green Chillies 2 Nos
Garlic 2 Pods
Onion 1 No (Finely Chopped)
Mustard 1/2 Teaspoon
Cumin 1/2 Teaspoon
Grated coconut 2 Tablespoons
Salt To Taste
Oil 1 Tablespoon

Preparation Method
  • Separate the methi leaves from the stalk and wash the leaves thoroughly and chop them into fine pieces.
  • Heat a pan and add oil. Once it gets hot, add mustard and very little cumin seeds.
  • Allow it to splutter and then add green chillies, chopped garlic and onion and saute them for 2 minutes.

  • Then add the chopped methi leaves and cook till the water evaporates completely.

  • Add salt. Finally add the ground coconut mixture to the cooked methi leaves and turn off the flame.
