Quick Poha Recipe | Breakfast Recipes

So far I have always had Poha/ Flattened rice in the form of sweets. Never tried spicy version of it. Today I thought, why not give it a try? Its very simple and it can be served for breakfast or as snack. I got one more addition to my breakfast recipes.

Here is the recipe…

Thick Poha/ Flattened rice 1 Cup
Ginger A small piece (chopped)
Green Chillies 2 Nos
Cardamom 2 Nos
Curry leaves A Strig
Onion 1 no (Small) chopped
Peanuts 2 Tablespoons
Mustard 1/4 Teaspoon
Turmeric Powder A Pinch
Chilli Powder 1/4 Teaspoon
Lemon juice 1/4 Teaspoon
Cilantro / Coriander Leaves Little (chopped)
Sugar A Pinch
Salt To Taste
Oil 1/4 Tablespoon
Preparation Method

  • Take the poha in a colander and wash it in water and have it ready. Wash the poha just before making the recipe. Do not soak it for more than 10 minutes.
  • In a tawa add oil. Once it is hot, add mustard and wait for it to splutter.
  • Then add the crushed cardamom.

  • Add curry leaves, peanuts and fry for few seconds.
  • Add ginger, green chillies, onion and saute them well.

  • Add turmeric, chilli powder, salt and mix well.
  • Add the poha and close it with a lid and cook for 3 - 5 minutes.

  • If the poha is cooked well, then turn off the flame and add sugar, lemon juice, cilantro.
  • Mix well and serve
