Tilapia Fish Puttu | Spicy Scrambled Fish


Tilapia fish puttu is a very different fish recipe. Most importantly this recipe requires very limited oil. I just love to have it as a snack. Also it goes well along with Rice and rasam.


Tilapia Fillets 2 Nos
Turmeric Powder A Pinch
Chilli Powder 1/4 Tablespoon
Coriander Powder 1/2 Tablespoon
Curry leaves A Strig
Green Chillies 2 Nos
Onion 2 Nos (Chopped)
Garlic 3 Pods
Fennel Seeds 1/4 Tablespoon
Cumin Seeds 1/4 Tablespoon
Cilantro Little for garnishing
Grated Coconut 1 Tablespoon
Salt To Taste
Oil 1 Tablespoon


Preparation Method
  • Wash the fillets and add them to the boiling water by adding salt and turmeric.
  • Cook the fish till it turns white colour.

  • When the fish turns white drain the water and take it out and keep it ready.
  • Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and slightly mash the cooked fish.

  • Mix well and keep it aside.
  • Heat a pan and add oil Once it is hot, add fennel seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, garlic and fry them well.

  • Add onion, green chillies, salt and saute them till it turns to light brown colour.

  • Add the fish and cook them well for 5 – 7 minutes.
  • Add grated coconut and turn off the flame.
  • Mix well and finally garnish with chopped cilantro and trasnfer it to the bowl and serve.
