Soya Chunks Masala Rice

Ingredients

Basamti rice 1 Cup
Soya Chunks 1/2 Cup
Onion 1 No
Cinnamon 1 Stick
Cloves 4 Nos
Bay leaves 2 Nos
Anise 1 No
Fennel Seeds 1/4 Tablespoon
Turmeric Powder A Pinch
Chilli Powder 1/4 Tablespoon
Coriander Powder 1/2 Tablespoon
Cilantro / Coriander Leaves Little
Salt To Taste
Ghee or oil 1 Tablespoon

Preparation Method
  • Wash and cook the basmati rice by adding 2 cups of water. Spread the cooked rice in the plate and allow it to cool down.
  • wash the soya chunks and boil them in water for 15 – 20 mins till it becomes little softer.
  • Squeeze out the excess water and cut into small pieces and have it ready.
  • Heat a pan and add oil. Once it is hot add cinnamon, cloves, anise, bay leaves, fennel seeds and fry them till a nice aroma comes out.
  • Add onion and saute till it becomes light brown colour.

  • Add the cut soya chunks and mix well.
  • After couple of minutes, add turmeric, chilli and coriander powder, salt and mix well.

  • Add chopped cilantro and mix well.
  • After a minutes, add the cooked rice and mix well till the rice gets coated with masala.
  • Transfer to the bowl and serve.
