Semiya Kheer | Vermicelli Kheer


Semiya kheer can be served as a dessert. The preparation is almost similar to that of semiya payasam. However this recipe is served cold. Adding saffron to it enhances the flavour as well as the taste.


Milk 1 Cup
Vermicelli 1/3 Cup
Sugar 1/4 Cup
Cardamom Powder A Pinch
Cashew 5 Nos
Raisins 5 Nos
Ghee 1 Tablespoon
Saffron Few Strands

Preparation Method
  • Boil milk in a pan. In another pan add ghee and fry cashew and raisin till golden brown.
  • Transfer it to a plate and in the same pan, roast the vermicelli till it turns to light brown colour.

  • Add the roasted vermicelli to the milk and cook for 5 –7  minutes till the vermicelli is cooked.
  • Add sugar and mix well.

  • Once the sugar is dissolved completely, add the cardamom powder, saffron strands and allow it to cook for couple of minutes.
  • Then turn off the flame.
  • Transfer it to a bowl, cool it down and then refrigerate it for couple of hours before serving.
