Potato Podimas | Urulaikizhangu Podimas Recipe | Potato Recipes


Potato Podimas is a less spicy recipe and I prepared this with Baby potatoes. It goes well with Rice, Kuzhambu, Rasam.


Potato 250 Grams
Red Chillies 4 Nos
Curry Leaves 1 Strig
Onion 1 No
Cashew Nuts 5 Nos
Cumin Seeds 1/4 Tablespoon
Channa Dhal 1/2 Tablespoon
Green Chillies 2 Nos
Grated Coconut 2 Tablespoons
Salt To Taste
Oil As Required


Preparation Method
  • Wash and Boil the potatoes and peel off the skin, mash the potatoes.
  • Heat a pan and add oil. Once it is hot, add mustard, cumin seeds.
  • Once it splutters, add red chillies, channa dhal, cashew nuts and fry them for few seconds.

  • Add onion, green chillies, curry leaves and saute them for couple of minutes.
  • Add the mashed potatoes and mix then well.

  • Add required salt and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Finally turn off the flame and add grated coconut and mix together.

  • Transfer to the bowl and serve.
