Kara Paniyaram | Masala Paniyaram


Here comes a different and tasty recipe with left over idly batter. Whenever we get bored of having idlys and dosas, this  can be the best alternative. It can be served with kara chutney.


Idly Batter 1 Cup
Onion 1 No
Green Chillies 2 Nos
Ginger A small piece
Curry Leaves A Strig
Chilli Powder 1/2 Tablespoon
Asafoetida A Pinch
Salt To Taste
Oil As required


Preparation Method
  • Chop onion, green chillies, ginger curry leaves and add it to the idly batter.
  • Add asafoetida, chilli powder, salt and mix everything together. If idly batter already contains salt, add very little salt.
  • If required, add little water to bring it to dosa batter consistency.

  • Heat paniyaram pan and add a drop of oil in each of the mould.
  • Take a laddle of batter and pour into each of the mould.

  • Wait for one side to get cooked. Then turn it over to the other side using a wooden skewer.
  • Once the other side gets cooked, transfer it to a plate.
  • Repeat the same process for all the batter
