Curd Rice


Curd rice is a very common recipe and mostly we will be having it without tempering it. But tempering always adds additional taste and flavour to the curd rice. Some prefer to add fruits to it, nuts is another option. I feel a meal to be incomplete without curd rice.


Rice 1 Cup
Curd 3/4 Cup
Curry leaves A Strig
Mustard 1/4 Tablespoon
Ginger A small Piece (Finely Chopped)
Green Chillies 2 Nos (Chopped)
Asafoetida A Pinch
Cashew (Optional) 5 Nos
Raisins (optional) 10 Nos
Salt To Taste
Seasame Oil / Gingely oil 1/2 Tablespoon

Preparation Method
  • Wash the rice and cook them well. Mash the cooked rice.
  • Add Curd, salt to it and mix it well.
  • Heat a pan and add oil. Once it is hot, add mustard and wait for it to splutter.

  • Add ginger, green chillies and fry them well.
  • Add curry leaves, asafoetida and fry for few seconds.
  • Trasnfer the temperred items to the curd rice.

  • Mix it well. Add raisins and cashew to it.
  • Mix everything together and serve.
