Vendakai Pachadi | Ladies finger Pachadi

Whenever I buy ladies finger, I used to make poriyal, sambar or kara Kuzhambu. This time, I wanted to try a different recipe with ladies finger. So I called up my mom and got this recipe from her. It turned out well and am pleased with its taste.
Ingredients

Ladies finger 200 Grams
Onion 1 No (Finely Chopped)
Tomato 1 No (Finely Chopped)
Red Chillies 2 Nos
Cumin Seeds 1/4 Tablespoon
Mustard 1/4 Tablespoon
Turmeric Powder A Pinch
Chilli Powder 1/2 Tablespoon
Coriander Powder 1 Tablespoon
Tamarind 1 Lemon Sized
Salt To Taste
Oil 2 Tablespoons

Preparation Method
  • Wash the ladiesfinger and cut them into thin slices and let it aside for 30 minutes.

  • Heat a pan and add oil. Once it is hot, add mustard, cumin seeds and red chillies.
  • Once it splutters, add the onion and saute them well for couple of minutes.

  • Add the chopped ladies finger and cook well for 7 – 10 minutes.

  • Once the ladies finger is cooked well, add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and mix everything together.
  • Add tomatoes and mix well. Let it cook for couple of minutes.

  • Add the tamarind extract and bring it to boil by adding salt and little water.

  • Cook till all the water evaporates. Transfer them to a bowl and serve.
