Vegetable wheat roll

Vegetable Roll

I had little kneaded chapatti dough left out. I thought of trying a vegetable roll out of it. I did not deep fried it. just shallow fried using a tablespoon of oil in a non stick tawa. The outcome was really good. Moreover I was also happy that I tried something different with the chapatti dough without wasting it.

Here is the recipe

Wheat Flour 1/2 Cup
Cabbage 1/4 Cup (Grated)
Carrot 2 Tablespoons (Grated)
Onion 2 Tablespoons (Finely Chopped)
Green chillies 1 No (Finely Chopped)
Desiccated Coconut (Optional) 1 Tablespoon
Salt To Taste
Oil 2 Tablespoons

Preparation Method
  1. Knead the wheat flour by adding a pinch of salt to a soft consistency. Let it remain for 30 minutes in a closed container.
  2. Heat a pan and add a tablespoon of oil, add greenchillies, onion and saute them well for 2 minutes.
  3. Then add cabbage and carrot, allow it to cook for 5 minutes. Then add salt and mix well.
  4. Finally add the desiccated coconut and turn off the flame.
  5. Transfer it to the bowl and allow it to cool down.
For preparing roll
  1. Split the dough into equal sized balls.
  2. Press the dough using the rolling pin after dusting with little wheat flour on both the sides.
  3. It has to be pressed to a very thin layer.
  4. Place little stuffing (cabbage and carrot) at one corner of the pressed dough and roll it tightly.
  5. seal both the ends of the roll using little water.
  6. Do the same and prepare the rolls using the remaining dough and have it ready.
  7. Heat a tawa and add a tablespoon of oil.
  8. Once the oil is hot, add the stuffed rolls one by one into the tawa.
  9. Turn it to all the sides so that it get cooked evenly. Once it changes to light brown colour, transfer it to a plate and serve with tomato ketchup.
