Soya Chunks Kuruma



Soya Chunks 1/2 Cup
Bay Leaves 2 Nos
Cloves 4 Nos
Cinnamon 1 Stick
Anise 1 No
Fennel Seeds 1 Tablespoon
Onion 1 No (Chopped)
Tomato 1 No (Chopped)
Ginger Garlic Paste 1/2 Tablespoon
Cashew 5 Nos
Poppy Seeds 1 Tablespoon
Turmeric Powder A Pinch
Chilli Powder 1/2 Tablespoon
Coriander Powder 1 Tablespoon
Salt To Taste
Oil 2 Tablespoons

Preparation Method
  • Soak the soya chunks in hot water for around 20 minutes.
  • After 20 minutes, wash it couple of times and squeeze out the excess water and keep it ready.
  • Heat a pan and add oil. To that add cinnamon, fennel seeds, cloves, anise and bay leaves.

  • Add Onion and saute them well. Add ginger garlic paste and fry till the raw smell goes off.
  • Add tomatoes and cook till it becomes mushy.

  • Add Turmeric, chilli and coriander powder and mix everything together.

  • Cut the soya chunks it to little pieces and add it to the mixture and cook for 5 minutes by adding required water and salt.
  • Meanwhile grind cashew, poppy seeds and fennel seeds to a fine paste.

  • When the gravy is boiling well, add the ground mixture and cook for 3 more minutes, then turn off the flame.

  • Transfer it to the serving bowl.
