Soya Chunks Gravy

I heard that recipes with soya chunks resembles the taste of non-vegetarian dishes. I wanted to give it a try. And ofcourse, it gave a feel of a non-vegetarian gravy.
Here is how I made it…

Soya Chunks 1 Cup
Onion 1 No (Finely Chopped)
Tomato 1 No (Finely Chopped)
Curry Leaves 1 Strig
Green Chillies 2 Nos
Mustard 1/4 Tablespoon
Fennel Seeds 1/4 Tablespoon
Turmeric Powder A Pinch
Chilli Powder 1/2 Tablespoon
Coriander Powder 1 Tablespoon
Garam Masala 1/4 Tablespoon
Salt To Taste
Oil 2 Tablespoons

Preparation Method
  • Heat water in a pan and add the hot water to the soya Chunks.
  • Let it remain for 20 Minutes.

  • After 20 minutes, squeeze out the water from the soaked soya chunks and have it ready.
  • Heat a pan and pour oil and allow it to get hot.

  • Add Mustard , Fennel Seeds and wait for them to splutter.
  • Add Curry Leaves, green chillies and onion and saute them well.

  • After 2 minutes, add tomato and cook them well for 3 minutes.
  • Then add turmeric powder, Chilli powder , coriander powder and mix them well.

  • Cook the mixture, till the oil oozes out.
  • Then add the soya chunks and mix them well. Let it cook for 3 –5 minutes.

  • Pour water to required consistency and bring it to boil
  • Cook for 5 more minutes and turn off the flame
  • Transfer to the serving bowl. Serve with rice or roti.
