Quick Sooji upma | Rava Upma

I used to prepare this upma, whenever we come home late after a busy day. This can be made really quick. Especially it doesn’t require any special sides. It tastes good with tomato ketch up or even sugar/powdered jagerry would be a nice combo.
Here is the recipe…

Ingredients
Sooji/Rava/Semolina 1 Cup
Channa Dhal 1 Tablespoon
Urad Dhal 1/2 Tablespoon
Curry Leaves 1 Strig
Greenchillies 2 Nos (Finely Chopped)
Ginger A small piece (Finely chopped)
Onion 1 No (Finely chopped)
Mustard 1/4 Tablespoon
Oil 2 Tablespoon
Salt To Taste

Preparation Method
  • Heat a pan and add oil. Once the oil is hot, add mustard.
  • After it splutters, add channa dhal, urad dhal and fry them till they turn to golden brown colour.
  • Then add curry leaves, green chillies, ginger and onion and saute them well.

  • Once the onion starts turning to light brown colour, add 2.5 cups of water.
  • Add salt and mix well.
  • Allow it to boil.

  • Add the sooji to the bolining mixture by constant mixing.
  • Keep stirring constantly for five minutes.
  • Once the sooji is cooked completely, trun off the flame and transfer it to serving bowl.
