Potato Masal

This is a side dish and it goes well with Poori or Chappathi.


Potato 2 Nos
Onion 1 No (Cut lenghtwise into thin slices)
Curry leaves A Stirg
Ginger A small piece (Finely Chopped)
Mustard 1/4 Tablespoon
Channa Dhal 1/2 Tablespoon
Urad Dhal 1/4 Tablespoon
Turmeric Powder A Pinch
Greenchillies 2 Nos (Finely Chopped)
Salt To Taste
Oil 1 Tablespoon

Preparation Method
  1. Boil the potatoes, peel off the skin and mash them well.
  2. Heat a pan and add oil. Once it is hot, add mustard, channa dhal and urad dhal and fry them till it turns golden brown.
  3. Then add green chillies, ginger and curry leaves.
  4. Add onion and add the salt. Saute them well by adding a pinch of turmeric powder.
  5. Add the mashed potato and cook for 3 minutes.
  6. Add hot water and bring it to a required consistency and turn off the flame.
  7. Finely chopped coriander leaves can be garnished before serving.
