Pasiparuppu | Moongdhal Payasam

Pasiparuppu Payasam 1

Though I have heard about paruppu Payasam many times, I tasted this sweet for the first time in my college hostel. From then I like it very much. But this is the first time, I tried preparing this recipe and it came out really well.

Ingredients

Moong Dhal 1/4 Cup
Milk 3/4 Cup
Jaggery 1/4 Cup
Grated Coconut 2 Tablespoons
Cashew 10 Nos
Cardamom Powder A Pinch
Ghee 1 Tablespoon

Preparation Method
  1. Heat a pan and add ghee to it. Fry the cashews till it turns light brown colour.
  2. Transfer the roasted cashews to a plate. In the left over ghee, add the moong dhal and roast them till a nice flavour comes/till it changes to light golden brown colour.
  3. Then pressure cook the moong dhal to a fine paste by adding milk.
  4. Bring the mixture to boil, then add the Jaggery syrup by heating the jaggery with little water and filtering it to remove any impurities.
  5. Keep mixing for 5 minutes and add Cardamom Powder, grated coconut , roasted cashews.
  6. Transfer to a serving bowl and serve.
