Golden fried Babycorn
Babycorns as the name suggests, are very tender. So far I have tasted in just once couple of years back in India. Since then I was awaiting to prepare it on my own and finally that happened today. It is a very simple recipe and quite different in taste from the usual bhajji’s. It doesn’t require any dips/sides. I prefer having just the bhajjis. But can be tried with tomato ketchup.
Baby corn 10 Nos
Gram flour 1/2 cup
Rice flour 2 Tablespoons
Chilli Powder 1/2 Tablespoon
Asafoedita A Pinch
Salt To Taste
Oil As required for deep frying
Preparation Method
  1. Wash the babycorns and slit them into two halves lengthwise and keep them aside.
  2. Add gram flour, rice flour, chilli powder, asafoedita & salt and mix well with water to a consistency that is not too thin and not too thick.
  3. In a pan heat the oil and dip the babycorn the mixture one by one and drop into the hot oil.
  4. Deep fry till it turns to golden brown colour.
  5. Transfer it to a plate and serve.
  1. A pinch of baking soda can be added. But that’s optional. I generally do not add baking soda.
